To mark the beginning of the summer holidays we are posting this film of Dr Saskia Roselaar from the University of Reading telling us about her (outdoor) research into Roman marching drills. As she explains, modern re-enactments of ancient marching can shed light on the challenges faced by Roman armies (and no, there wasn’t a Roman army marching in the background – just conference helpers moving the tables around!)
